This guide outlines everything you need to know about your new door, including delivery, storage, finishing, and ongoing maintenance. Please take the time to read through it carefully—it’s vital for ensuring the longevity of your door and validating your guarantee.
If you have any questions, our team is here to help!
1.1 Delivery takes place at the address you supply for the Quotation.
1.2 We always do our best to deliver your order on the scheduled day, but sometimes unexpected things happen that are beyond our control, and we may need to reschedule. To avoid any inconvenience, we recommend waiting to book a contractor until your door has arrived. We can't be held responsible for any unforeseen loss, damage, or expenses that may arise due to delivery delays.
1.3 When your door arrives, inspect it carefully to ensure it is free from damage. Any issues must be reported to us in writing within 72 hours of delivery.
1.4 If you're unable to take delivery of your door or we can't deliver them because we didn't get the right instructions, permission, or access from you, our responsibility will end on the agreed delivery date. You'll just need to cover the reasonable costs (including insurance) of storage until we can make the actual delivery. We’re happy to work with you to arrange a suitable time for delivery!
2.1 Your door must be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated location. Keep it away from direct sunlight, damp environments, and sources of heat.
2.2 Do not store your door in freshly plastered or newly renovated spaces. High humidity can damage the timber. Allow at least six weeks for plaster to dry before introducing the door.
2.3 We cannot accept liability for damage caused by improper storage.
3.1 Our doors are supplied unfinished. You must finish your door with a high-quality, weather-resistant paint or stain ideally before installation and no later than 3 days after installation to protect it from moisture and temperature changes. Waxing, oiling or clear varnish is not deemed an appropriate method of sealing so we cannot provide a guarantee if treated in this way.
3.2 Apply a minimum of three coats of paint or stain to:
3.3 Dark finishes are not recommended for external doors as they absorb heat, which can cause the timber to shrink, crack, or warp. Our guarantee does not cover damage caused by dark finishes.
3.4 After finishing the door, apply a bead of clear silicone around all external glazing apertures to prevent water ingress.
3.5 If a weather bar is being installed, apply a bead of clear silicone around all edges to prevent water ingress.
3.6 Wood by its nature may on rare occasions naturally develop small splits or ‘shakes’, which are part of the beauty of the timber and are not of structural concern. Promptly address any cracks, splits, or signs of wear by filling and refinishing the affected areas.
3.7 Regular maintenance is essential to keep your door looking great and functioning well. At least once a year, lightly sand and reapply a coat of finishing treatment to protect the timber.
3.8 We cannot accept liability for damage caused by improper finishing, or exposure to extreme conditions.
5.1 We guarantee your front door for 2 years from the date of delivery. During this time your door is backed against faults in its structure or craftsmanship that would make it unfit for use.
5.2 As timber is a natural material it can experience some movement in all planes. Movement within the published British Standards will not constitute a defect.
5.3 There is no guarantee against crakes in glass panels.
5.4 Our liability is limited to the value of the goods supplied. We cannot accept responsibility for incidental costs or damages.
